USOPC Swimming Classification - Pending
Texas Parasport Games requested a U.S. Paralympic Classification panels for Swimming. We have not received confirmation on approval for the classification panel.
Once the swim classification panel has been awarded, we will be sending out links (via email) to sign-up for a classification appointment. Classification Appointments are required and must be arranged ahead of time. If you checked on the registration form that you needed swim classification, you will be sent a link a few weeks before the games to sign up for an appointment. The appointment times go fast, so we encourage you to look for that email and respond quickly. It is required to fill out the US Paralympics paperwork to get a classification appointment. **Preliminary Heat sheets, Final Heat sheets, and Results will be posted in the news section of the website.
**All athletes must be checked in by 12:45 pm or will be scratched from the meet.
**Lanes 7 and 8 can be used for warming up and cooling down continuously during the competition and will close 15 minutes after the last event has concluded.
Order of Events: All Distances are in Short Course Yards (SCY)
**Swimmers may only enter up to 5 events.
**25 yd events are limited to 10 and Under and first time competitive swimmers.
**25 yd events will count in the total of 5 events.
**Reminder that this is an all deep water facility.

Positive check-in required for all events.

All 25 yd events will start from the opposite end of the pool (diving boards end), not the starting block end in order to utilize the electronic timing system.
Facility:

Eight-25-yard lanes certified by USA Swimming

The minimum water depth, measured in accordance with Article 103.2.3, is 7 feet at the start end and the turn end is 13 feet measured for a distance of 1.0 meter to 5.0 meters from both end walls.

The course has been professionally certified IAW 104.2.2C (4).

All automatic Omega starting and timing system. Meet Manager 8.0 will be used.

Deck seating is reserved for athletes, coaches, attendants, meet officials, and administrative staff. Bleachers and folding chairs (upon request) will be available on the pool deck. No personal chairs or folding chairs will be allowed due to safety concerns. Specialty chairs must be approved by the Facility Safety Officer.

Spectators will be seated in the upstairs bleachers.
Liability:

In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming, Inc., South Texas Swimming, Inc. (STSI), the Alamo Area Aquatics Association, the Josh Davis Natatorium, North East Independent School District, and all meet officials shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. Damage to the facility, when proven, will cause the offending swimmer to be held accountable for repairs.
Cell Phone Restrictions:

Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.

Violators are subject to disqualification from the meet, disbarment from the facility, and arrest.

Warm-up Procedures:

All warm-up activities will be coordinated by the coach(es) supervising that swimmer(s).

Sprint lanes are for starts, diving from blocks or for in-water backstroke starts. Starts shall occur from only the designated end of the pool, only in the designated sprint lane(s) and only when announced by the meet director or meet referee.

Swimmers must exit on the opposite end of the pool or swim back in a swim only lane but not, in the dive lane.
-
There will be no diving in the general warm-up lanes—circle swimming only.
-
No kickboards, pull buoys, or hand paddles may be used.
-
Backstrokers will ensure that they are not starting at the same time as a swimmer on the blocks.
-
Swimmers shall not step up on the blocks if there is a backstroker waiting to start.
-
Swimmers shall not jump or dive into the pool to stop another swimmer on a recalled start.
-
Swimmers are required to exit the pool on completion of their warm-up to allow other swimmers adequate warm-up time.
-
The pool is not for visiting or playing during the warm-up session.
Scratch Rules:

There will be no penalty for scratching an event(s) and events may be deck seeded

All swimmers intending to compete will be required to positively check-in with the Clerk of Course no later than 12:45 PM
Awards
-
Each Swimming athlete will receive a commemorative Texas Parasport Games Medal. Individual event pins will be awarded for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finish within each class, age division (juniors only), and gender. Your medal and placement pins can be picked up at the designated awards table approximately 20 minutes after the completion of your final race. You will receive a packet with all your awards in one packet. Please do not come to pick up awards until you have completed all your events.
